edX, an online learning platform by 2U, Inc., has launched a new Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp in collaboration with leading universities across the country. This intensive online program is designed for individuals with minimal technical training who aim to quickly acquire the skills required for an entry-level technical role in AI. The program is scheduled to begin in fall 2023.

The following universities will welcome their first cohorts in September: Michigan State University, University of Denver, The Ohio State University College of Engineering, and Southern Methodist University. Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Utah, and University of North Carolina at Charlotte will welcome their first cohorts in November. This part-time boot camp will span 24 weeks and cater to early- to mid-career professionals, focusing on practical and technical skills in data science, machine learning, and AI.

The curriculum of this boot camp is designed with input from industry professionals to cover technologies and concepts currently in demand. It includes Python, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, transformers, natural language processing, AI applications, time series forecasting, and AI and data ethics. Guided by experienced industry practitioners, the Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp ensures that graduates develop the necessary skills sought in today’s tech landscape.

The Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp aims to equip more individuals with AI knowledge and skills to leverage the opportunities presented by this rapidly evolving technology. In a recent survey commissioned by edX, it was found that 42% of hiring managers expect AI skills to be necessary for almost half of all job candidates hired in the next five years, yet less than 20% currently possess these skills. The survey also revealed a strong demand for AI training, with 82% of learners expressing interest in AI-related higher education programs.

edX, mindful of this growing demand, has seen an 80% increase in searches for ‘artificial intelligence’ on its platform in the first half of 2023. To address this demand, edX offers a variety of resources, including machine learning and AI MicroBootCamps, as well as five ChatGPT open courses focused on education, business, healthcare, and tech/coding/data. These courses are free to audit and provide learners with valuable AI knowledge.

In addition to the Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp, edX offers boot camp programs in coding, data science, cybersecurity, UX/UI, and fintech. Globally, edX has supported over 70,000 boot camp graduates, empowering them with the skills, knowledge, and career resources needed to achieve their goals. According to a 2U-Gallup survey, boot camp graduates reported a fourfold increase in job satisfaction and an overall 86% positive outcome after completing the program.

Established in 2012 by Harvard and MIT, edX has become a leading global platform for online learning, bridging the gap between esteemed educational institutions and learners worldwide. Its mission is to make top-quality education accessible to everyone, with a focus on providing the skills needed to fuel ambitions and drive personal and professional growth.

The Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp, developed in collaboration with renowned universities, represents a pivotal step towards fulfilling edX’s vision. Designed to cater to learners without significant technical backgrounds, the program enables individuals to develop the necessary AI skills for entry-level positions. By addressing the current skills gap in the job market, edX is actively contributing to a future where AI knowledge is widespread and sought-after.

With its broad curriculum, the boot camp ensures individuals gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge in data science, machine learning, and AI. Python, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, transformers, natural language processing, AI applications, time series forecasting, and AI and data ethics are just some of the areas covered. By providing a comprehensive understanding of these concepts, the boot camp prepares learners for success in the ever-changing tech landscape.

As the demand for AI skills continues to rise, the Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp with edX plays a crucial role in enabling aspiring professionals to stay ahead. The support provided by experienced industry practitioners and on-demand tutors ensures that participants receive the guidance needed to navigate the complexities of AI.
